Inspiring Excellence, Realising Ambitions
Are you planning for your Winter?
|
What is your company’s and / or your life’s planning horizon? Five years? Two years? Six months? Or zero month? Do you often have long-term vision to meet your business shorter-term financial goals? Many companies are under enormous pressure to deliver bottom-line results every quarter. The pressures can rearrange your priorities and most times not for the better if you don’t take charge today.
This reminds me a story I read some years back. A grasshopper chirped loudly during the heat of a summer day. An ant warned the grasshopper to start thinking about the cold times ahead as it would be winter before soon. The ant, by contrast, spent the rest of the summer gathering kernels of wheat and storing them for the colder months.

How to find great people for your business
|
If you are just starting out in business, you will understand the enormous impact of a single team member. One thing you need to know fast is that there is a limit to what you can do alone in your business. So, you really can not do without people. Getting people that buy into your idea takes a lot of effort from you but once you get this right, you are in for a good time.
Whenever you think of bringing a person on board, you need to answer the question, “What will the person bring on board“. Your candid answer to this question will set the criteria for you to get the person that best fits into your business goal and plans. Every person you add to your team must be a star. Is that possible? Absolutely but you need to understand what a star is within each role of your company. (more…)

How to achieve more with little time
|
Have you always wished you could get more time to get more tasks done? If you have a goal (whether business or personal) and you are passionate about achieving it, you will get to a phase in your life when time will seem not to be enough for you again. You will always seek to get more time. What you need whenever you get to this phase of your life is not more time but time management.
The most common form of stress that managers experience is the feeling of being overwhelmed with far too much to do and having too little time to do it in. In fact, “time poverty“ is the biggest single problem facing most business managers. We simply do not have enough time to fulfill all our responsibilities.
Because of budget limitations, staff cutbacks, downsizing, and competitive pressures, individual managers are forced to take on more and more work, all of which appears to be indispensable to the smooth functioning of our company or department. Brian Tracy provides some insights into how to deal with these overwhelm. (more…)

How do you pay for your MBA?
|
Do you think you need an MBA? I am sure you have heard the phrase “with an MBA under your belt, higher salaries are likely to come your way“. But is that only reason why you go for an MBA? The average annual salary, according to the 2005 Global MBA Graduate Survey was $88,600. If you decide that you really need the MBA, how do you come up with upwards of between $40,000 and $60,000 a year to finance your way through business school?
The moment you make up your mind that you are going to business school, you are faced with the finance challenge. Always remember that you may not have access to your salary through out the period you are in school except your company is sponsoring you. So, what are the finance options available to you? You may need to consider waiting till you have enough money in your savings account otherwise you may consider exploring the options you have from federal loans to private loans, scholarships to corporate sponsorships. Are you ready to pay the price?
|
Are you ready to pay the price? Do you have clear vision of what you where you are going and things seem to be far away? For some of us, the road ahead is definitely beautiful and something to look forward to. But are we ready to pay the price? I have discovered over time that opportunities come only to those who are prepared. So, what do you do to harness the opportunities that come your way everyday?
Life is beautiful and gives everyone what he demands. You might be wondering why things seem not to be working the way you want since you have been made to believe that EVERYBODY DESERVES EVERYTHING GOOD IN LIFE - things would just fall into place i.e. go to school, get a good degree & grade and you would get a good job or start that business and you would soon be a success.

How to Spend Less Than You Earn
|
Do you really want to be wealthy[tag]? Do you want to get to the point where [tag]money will not be an issue to you anymore? If you are like me, you will want to have more than enough wealth to live your dream. You want to reach a stage in your life where you work not because you have to but rather you love what you are doing. If you want to achieve this fast, then you need to learn how to take charge of your spending.
The first rule in the school of wealth creation to always spend less than you earn. The moment your expenses is more than your income, you will start having negative margin or deficit. Deficit may lead you to borrowing money which eventually results in debts. This might get to a point where you are unable to pay back your debt. As you keep spending above your income each month, you will only be increasing your debt. Before long, you and your entire family will become a slave to it if you don’t stop now. (more…)

How to create your life plan
|
I saw this write-up online and decided to share it here. I am sure it will move you a step towards creating your life plan if you don’t have any yet. Think carefully and honestly about where you are now in your life. Consider work, recreation, relationships, finances and anything else that’s important to you. And then jot down some simple, succinct bullet points in each of these categories:
- Quality rating of your life on a scale of 1 through 100, with 100 being the best possible life
- Realities of your life, including responsibilities, funds available to start a business, expenses
- Things that make you happy
- Things that make you unhappy
