3rd Edition of Carnival of PACE

Welcome to the 3rd Edition of Carnival of Personal And Company Effectiveness. This week focus is “Laws of Growth”. Hence, the carnival will focus on those articles or write-ups that are in line with this.

My Carnival Highlights:

Debra Moorhead believes you should organize your vision board according to the “Be, do, have,” principle. In other words, in order to have what you want, you need to do certain things, which require that you be a certain way. I have heard of people who paste the picture of their desire on a board in their room, and in no time, achieve same. What you see every time has a great impact in what you become.

John Hill says just like making a monetary deposit into a savings bank, every time you have a thought, say a word or visualize an image you are making a deposit into your mental bank. As the money in the savings bank begins to grow with interest, so do the thoughts, words and images you deposit in your mind. Your mind is like a sponge and it is ready to soak up anything and everything it hears, thinks or sees. So, the question now is “What Are You Depositing In Your Mental Bank?

Craig Harper reiterate the fact that satisfaction, happiness, fulfilment and joy never comes from the physical. He understands that beauty has very little to do with long-term ’success’

wilson ng presents Choose your Battles, saying,

“We are so used to competing, that we spend a lot of time and resources winning or excelling in unnecessary things in which has no meaning or bearing to your overall goals.”

Having a high self esteem is healthy and good for us, it makes us feel great and be cheerful all day long. When we are feeling great we function at our best and attract others who also feel good about themselves and the world. Alan highlights some things you can do to pump up your Self-Esteem.

Have you ever felt like you move from day to day, week to week, paycheck to paycheck– barely getting by, unsure of your current career path, but with too many financial obligations to make any real change in your life? Learn how to achieve financial growth and personal growth at the same time. David Richeson says you can Make More Money Without Selling Your Soul

John presents Top 10 Indicators that You Need Help in Your Business. You need to look through these indicators if you are not getting the kind of result you desire in your business. John says that there will always come a point when you’ll just know that you’ll need help in your business, whether that’s an in-person employee or two, or a virtual assistant/online business manager or other type of independent contractor.

Wanda Grindstaff talks on how you can create abundant lifestyles by harnessing the Power of Word. Thoughts and words all come from emotion, but there are times when emotion controls not only our words but our thoughts and bring about some very negative results for us.

Others worth reading:

Ted Reimers presents Best Business Schools for the Entrepreneur

John McCrea shows you how you can Steal Back Time

Albert Foong presents The Misery and World Peace Viruses

Charles H. Green says you can Work and Feel Good at the same time

The Positivity Blog reveals How You can Make a Great First Impression.

Sudhanshu presents what he learnt watching the movie “300″ in Entrepreneurship and 300

That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of personal and company effectiveness using our carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on blog carnival index page.

How to increase your client base

The easiest way to instantly increase your current client base is to regain your inactive clients. You must identify how many of your old clients are no longer actively purchasing from your company and why they do. Here are three reasons why people stop buying from you:

  1. Something totally unrelated to you happened in their life that has caused them to stop dealing with you. They probably have every intention to start dealing with you again but just haven’t gotten around it yet.
  2. They experienced a problem during their last purchase.
  3. They can no longer benefit from your product or service.

The best way to reinstate your lost clients is to simply contact them. Make an appointment to visit them or call them if a visit is not possible. You can also choose to send them a letter. Tell your lost clients that you noticed that they have not been buying from your company and that you sense that something is wrong. Make sure that you communicate both humility and concern. Remember to focus on them and their well-being.

If your client falls under category number one, your call will awaken them into buyingagain. If your client falls into category number two, you must take the opportunity to tell them how much you value their business and apologize for the problem they encountered. Do something special to make up for the inconvenience they experienced.

The Rockerfeller’s Rules to becoming wealthy

According to Nelson Rockerfeller, the one time Vice President of the United States, his father John D. Rockerfeller, Jr, gave each of his five sons an allowance “We got 25 cents a week, and had to earn the rest of the money we got.” To earn part of that extra money he raised vegetables and rabbits…” We always worked.

All the boys were required to keep personal daily account books. They were required to give 10 percent of their income to charity, to save 10 percent, and to account for all the rest.” They had to balance their account books every month and to be able to tell what happened to every penny they earned. The Rockerfeller kids were taught a specific pattern for dealing with their money. These are the Rockerfeller rules.

  • Work for all you get
  • Give away the first 10%.
  • Pay yourself the next 10%.
  • Live on the rest.
  • Account for every penny.

Isn’t it interesting that Rockerfeller made his kids learn the habit of work? But why do you think Mr. and Mrs. Rockerfeller taught their kids to give the first 10% to charity? Now, if you’re an atheist or an agnostic, or in any way squeamish about the subject of God, you’d better skip over this section. It’s just going to make you all grumpy. But if you believe there is a Supreme Being, then, read on.

The Rockerfellers, like almost all of the great American billionaires, looked upon their wealth as a sort of spiritual stewardship. They believed that God gave them the money. It wasn’t theirs…they just were caretakers over it. They felt a duty to manage it for the betterment of others…while thoroughly enjoying it themselves, of course. If every dollar they received was a gift from God, they were glad to pay 10% of it back. (Andrew Carnegie gave all of his wealth away before his death)

You’d be surprised how many very successful and very wealthy people today and throughout the past 200 years have felt the same. God, for them, was always the best silent partner. And they didn’t do too badly for God and his children, either. Today, the Ford Foundation gives away hundreds of millions of dollars PER YEAR to various charities. The Rockerfeller foundation gives away almost 50 million dollars.

I wonder if God knew this was going to happen. Looking down on the earth in the late 1800’s did he say to himself. “To whom shall I give the idea for the automobile? And which lucky person is going to end up with the concept of oil? Hmm… let’s see. There’s that Rockerfeller fellow. He’s going to end up pretty decent. And most of his money is eventually going to go to help others. I think he should get a big chunk of oil. There’s that scrappy Henry Ford down there in Michigan. He’s got a few glaring blemishes but eventually, the money he makes with this idea is going to belong to his foundation and will bless millions of people. Let’s give him a big chunk of the automobile.”

How did Bill Gates end up with the computer? Or Andy Gove with the silicon chip? Or the guy (what was his name anyway?) who started Amazon.com? These days, billions can be made and lost in a single day in the stock market. Who’s going to get the next billion dollar concept? Do you deserve to get it? What would you do with it if you got it? Could God trust you with it? Would you squander it? Or would you be a wise steward over it? Would there be anything left to bless the lives of others? Tough questions.

I would encourage you that, no matter what your financial circumstances, invest 10% right off the top in your favorite charity or church. If you don’t know where to put it, follow your heart. One day, all the money in the world, will not keep your heart beating. Sharing 10% with others will remind you that God owns everything and we’re transients here.

Now, after you pay the first 10% to your “Silent Partner” you need to pay yourself next. In the classic, “The Richest Man in Babylon,” George S. Clayson tells the story of the wise investor whose primary rule was, “A part of all you earn is yours to keep.” (If you haven’t read this book yet, buy it today and read it.) And then, when these two items are taken care of, Live on the rest.

Make the decision that, starting today, you will no longer go into debt to support your lifestyle. You’re going to live below your means…no matter what. It may take you months to turn your spending patterns around (for an oil tanker to change course 180 degrees takes many, many hours and hundreds of miles to accomplish…you’re like that tanker, it will take time to turn your financial bad habits into good ones…so be patient with yourself.

NB: This is an excerpt from Robert Allen’s Seven Secrets of Extremely Prosperous People.

Ready to go to the next level?

Time is the scarcest resource, and unless it is managed, nothing else can be managed“, Peter Drucker

Jerry Wallace lives by this rule. He is usually up and about at 5:00 AM in the morning, and proceeds to work around 10 hours a day. What’s even more amazing is that despite his busy schedule, he is able to create quality time with his family. For him, managing your time properly is one of the secrets to victory in the business.

First, try to study your everyday routine and daily habits. Think about all the individual and measurable movements you do. For example, you have a habit of tapping the pencil before writing. This action is pretty simple, but it also contributes to wasted time. Once you have determined what your daily routine and habits are, it is easier to identify which are unnecessary. Eliminate what is unnecessary, and you’ll have more time to focus on what is important and necessary.

Second, try to organize your time well. Some people may be into creating a to-do list, while others may not. Whatever the method is, just make sure it’s effective and easy for you to follow.

Third, do well by doing well. Jerry Wallace firmly believes that you succeed by helping other people succeed also.

Fourth, build your reputation. It’s very important to be known for being an honest and forthright businessman. To be successful in the business, you need to have a reputation for high integrity, so that people would be willing to do business with you.

Fifth, maintain a balance in your life. Taking a break from all the work is actually helpful to your success. Learning how relax allows you to enjoy the journey more.

Sixth, socialize with the right people. Jerry Wallace believes that being with the right group of people, who have the right knowledge and the character, can help you move ahead in both your professional and personal life.

Look within!

Are you still wishing (hoping) to find or create your fortune? Has your business been on for awhile now and things are not moving as planned? Does it seem the magic simply isn’t working? In the classic, Acres of Diamonds, Russell Conwell begins with the legend of Ali Hafed.

Ali, blessed with a farm and many orchards, was still discontented. He wished for great wealth. So he sought out the village priest and asked for guidance.

The priest advised him to look for a river with white sands. There he would find diamonds. Many diamonds. So Ali left his family with neighbors, sold his farm and went in search of diamonds. For years Ali searched, never returning to his family.

Ultimately, Ali walked into the ocean’s waves, willfully ending his life - penniless and broken in spirit. While Ali was searching for his great wealth, the new owner of Ali’s farm continued about making it a productive piece of land. One day, as his camels were drinking from the river that ran through Ali’s property, he saw a strange rock. Pulling it out of the stream and examining it, he was in awe. It was a very large diamond.

That farm became the site of the world’s largest diamond mine! Right there in Ali’s back yard was the river with white sands the priest had spoken of. Right where you are living now, you will definitely find a similar story.

The metaphors are powerful and thought provoking. Within each of us lies our own acres of diamonds - our own silver mine. They are the totally unique gifts and talents that we have been blessed with.

Our good is not “out there.” It is within us. We are divine beings, gifted with all the ingredients necessary to create our own abundance. But we must honor that which we have been given and not attempt to become that which we are not.

In the last three years I’ve heard of so many disappointed enterpreneurs who did exactly what Ali did. They left existing strengths and many undeveloped talents to take a road that was not their true path.

And like Ali, most of them have not succeeded.

If you jump out looking for someone else’s gold or silver or diamonds, like Ali, you are abandoning the treasures that are within you that await your excavation. BUT, if you excavate your own treasures and gifts and THEN put them out, you have the real recipe for your own home grown diamonds!

It is a rule of the universe: what you bless expands. Bless your own acres of diamonds and you will become wealthy beyond your wildest dreams - not just in money -but also in joy, fulfillment, and peace.

Before you go the crazy route?

Starting and running your own business will affect your family life. I have heard this phrase many times and I will tell you that it is true. Remember, you are risking financial stability and this might affect your family adversely. I once had a discussion with a friend about my plan to resign from my present employment and focus on my business full time. His advise really set me thinking and is helping me to carve out an exit plan for myself now.

Starting your own business may also put pressure on your relationships. Your spouse may feel neglected and you may not have enough time for your children. You might soon find yourself spending less and less time with your friends.I must admit that this is already happening to me despite the fact that I still run my business part-time.

You must realize that family support is also an important factor to business success. Otherwise, you might start feeling lonely as you go through your endeavors. Your family can support you during the tough times and help you get back to your feet when you fall. Victories are sweeter when you have someone to share them with. Ensure that you carry your family along in your search for business succcess.

Before you continue Are you thinking of starting your own business? Turning your back on a stable career to pursue your own business takes a lot of passion, courage and a little craziness. Before you even think about having your own business, consider this thought:

it is easier and more profitable long-term to just get a job than to start your own business.

If having more money is your main motivation to start your own business, you are already lost from the start. Starting a business takes a lot of courage.

Find the Lunatic like you Although what you are doing is important, who you are working with is really. A business idea, on its own, is meaningless. Other people mean everything. Going into business with the right people can make you millions. Going into business with the wrong people can cost you everything. If you are not certain of the kind of business you want to pursue, start by finding a group of people you respect and admire.

Choose people you can learn from and work with them on whatever type of business they are pursuing. Who you are in business with is more important than what business you are in. A great entrepreneur needs a good team (I am gradually building my team). It is hard to accomplish great things when you are all alone. You need team members who can share in your successes and failures.
