Tape Measure Your Time

As a business owner or a prospect, it is not enough just to have the plan. You need to use certain tools to get the desired results. The most essential of these tools is a simple tape measure. Show me a carpenter who has misplaced his tape measure (or a farmer who has misplaced his cutlass & hoe) and I will show you a very distressed and upset person. His tape measure (hoe or cutlass) is essential if he expects his project to materialize according to the plans.

Likewise, we need to harness the power of a “tape measure” so as to achieve our plans. This is your personal organizer. As long as you have the tool, you can easily budget your most precious commodity - Your Time.

When an hour of time is wasted, one hour of life is wasted! So many people have mastered the art of their trade. Some even understand the basics involved in budgeting money, but have not learned to budget time. The ironic part about this idea is that you buy money with your time.

Life is often what happens to you along the way when you have planned otherwise because there are time wasters out there to throw you off the track. Always have it in mind that your performance may not always match your intentions. It is important that you prepare for what lies ahead. You have to work out a way to increase your productivity each day.

Time is the great equalizer for all of us. We all have 24 hours in a day, 7 days a week, yielding 168 hours per week. Take out 56 hours for sleep (we do spend about a third of our week asleep) and we are left with 112 hours to achieve all the results we desire. You cannot save time (ever have any time left over on a Sunday night that you could lop over to the next week?), it can only be spent or invested.

Always remember that everybody has the same twenty - four hours. How come some people are able to amass fortunes with their time, while others barely accomplish the essentials of life? Observing people from different walks of life, one common thread seems to separate the winners from the losers in the accomplishment arena. Winners have learnt to organize their time and resources to achieve their objectives, while the rest are just endeavoring to get organized. So, if you really want to succeed in your business, your only option is to “tape measure” your time.
